At National Metal Fabricators, our team is made up of some of the most qualified employees in the metal fabrication industry. We’re adept at a process known as continuous bar milling (also called bar conversion). It’s a highly useful service used to convert flat bars, angles, channel, round rods and square bars into an entirely new profile. We do this by feeding the material through a custom tailored cutting fixture that cuts into the material down its entire length resulting in a new material profile. For example a round bar can now have a keyway down the entire length of the bar. Or a step is put into a square bar.
Some of the shapes we mill include slots, bevels, steps and of course keyways. We do it carefully and specifically. We also have the capacity to mill complex end shapes. We do this by using tools made for this type of work – notably, a series of specialized cutters and fixtures.
